Death Date: 2/28/1952
Washington Park East Cemetery
Section F, Lot 139, Grave 7

Louis Lawrence Bowman was born November 10, 1872 or 1873. His parents were Nathan Bowman and Freda Selts Budd Bowman. They came to the United States through Castle Garden in New York City from Germany. It is believed that the family name was changed when his parents entered the United States as was common at that time. His mother's maiden name was changed from Selts to Budd by authorities. Louis had two brothers Abe and Martin whom died at less than thirty years of age.His first wife, Henrietta Grohs Bowman and her were married on March 7, 1901. He was twenty-nine and she was nineteen at the time of their marriage. She died at home on March 28, 1919 of Spanish Influenza. They had two children, ReJane Maybelle born July 31, 1905 and Frederick Leon Born April 13, 1911.He married his second wife, Lucile Evelyn Lyda on October 5, 1920. He was forty-six or forty-seven and she was twenty-six at the time of their marriage. They had one daughter Freda Jean who was born on December 4, 1922. He had been in wholesale jewelry business, which his first father-in-law owned. Then he was a mill representative for a wearing apparel firm for more than fifty years. He was a charter member of Monument Masonic Lodge, and a member of Moose Lodge and United Commercial Travelers. He died at his daughter, Freda and son-in-law Ray's house in Indianapolis on February 28, 1952. His age was listed as seventy-nine in his obituary. This would support that he was born in 1872.
