Lucile Evelyn Lyda was born November 7, 1983 in Illinois. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas and Martha Church Lyda. She had two brothers, Thomas Ray Lyda and Ellis Earl Lyda. They both lived in Indianapolis. She also had one sister, Martha May Lyda Barnett, whom lived in Paris, Illinois and Chrisman, Illinois. Her brothers and sister all went by their middle names. The Lyda family lived in Dana, Indiana when the children were in school. In her youth, Lucile had very long hair. She wore it in braided pigtails that still were long enough that she was able to sit on them. A boy that sat behind her in school used to put his feet on her braids so that she would yell out. She would get into trouble and would have to go to the front of the class. She started going with Louis Lawrence Brown on June 5, 1920 and married him on October 5, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois. Lucile was 26 years old and Louis was 46 or 47 years old when they were married. They had one daughter, Freda Jean who was born December 4, 1922.Lucile died on November 13, 1937 at St. Vincent Hospital, which was located on Fall Creek Boulevard at the time. She died six days after her forty-fourth birthday.
