A Tribute to RickHis life began December 28, 1952, Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. He had two big sisters, Verna and Carol. He was a real happy baby. His year old picture was so handsome. We moved to Indianapolis, September 1955. We lived with Aunt Jane for two years. On August 30, 1975, there was a marriage to Duane Walker. Rick had a stepfather. Rick as a little cowboy. When he said his leg hurt, Duane asked him if he had a Charley Horse. He said, 'NO', and then responded, 'I only ride Lone Ranger's horse.'On December 3, 1959, Duane adopted Verna, Carol and Rick. It was nice to all be the Walker Family. Rick did a lot of fun things. He went to school # 58 and # 57, on the Eastside. He was president of his Sunday School Class in the 3rd grade and a Cub Scout. As an Eagle Scout, he got a lot of badges. He played little league ball for two years. Rick delivered newspapers for the Indianapolis Times and won a bicycle. On July 17, 1962, Rick had a new baby brother John. As a family, we went camping. First in an old army, tent with cots, then in a Nimrod trailer. We camped in almost all the Indiana State Parks in the 60's. We had lots of fun on the trails. In 1966, we camped in the Smokey Mountains. Rick went into the US Army in 1970. He married Joyce Sprinkle on January 21, 1971, at Irvington United Methodist Church. They both were able to go to Germany. Joyce left June 1971. They had an apartment Germany. They were home on leave for three weeks in February 1973 and spent time with their families. Then in Germany, they were walking down the street when a van and a taxi had an accident. It pushed Joyce and Rick through a plate glass window. Joyce went to the hospital with a cut hand. Rick never went to the doctor. Later he died. Here is a memorial at Cumberland United Methodist Church in Rick's name. We were all so sad in loosing Rick but we had 20 wonderful years of memories of his life. We are grateful for the good times.Love,Mom
