| Lorena Mae Bumpas was born October 6, 1908, the only child of Durward Wright and Nora Alice Harbaugh. Her parents divorced and her parents both remarried. She had twin sisters that she did not know, by her father's remarriage and two half sisters by her father and stepmother, Vergie and Vera. Lorena married Lotus Marion Bumpas on November 24, 1926. They had two children, Patricia who lived 5 hours and Richard who survives. Lorena was so sick with the birth of Patricia that she promised the Lord that if she lived she would dedicate her life to HIM, and that she did. She was instrumental in forming the widowed persons society of Speedway, Indiana a division of the AARP. She and her husband were avid antique collectors and her collection of old dolls were envied by many. For many years, she was Mrs. Claus for LS Ayres and drove the train that is now on display at the Indiana State Museum. She was a member of Speedway Methodist Church but attended El-Bethel Baptist with her son and daughter-in-law. Many sorely missed her when she passed. |
