Jerry Eugene Phillips was born and raised on the west side of Indianapolis, spending most of his years growing up in the Eagledale area. Very early in life, Jerry showed an interest in and a charisma for animals of all kinds. In his early teen years, Jerry began specializing in working with and training not only dogs, but birds of prey. Sometime around 1964 a close friend introduced Jerry to the sport of falconry. Two years later, at age 14, he became the youngest person ever to compete in the National Falconry Association that meet in South Dakota.Jerry seemed most at peace with himself while hunting with his Redtail Hawk, named Jack and his half shepherd half wolf breed dog. Throughout his lifetime, Jerry worked and trained dogs in obedience and guard attack. He not only became well known throughout the Indianapolis area as a dog trainer, but was respected by many in his field. Jerry was blessed that his God given passion for animals had turned into his lifetime occupation. Jerry graduated from Northwest High School in 1972. In the late 1980's, Jerry served his country in the United States Navy. Jerry will long be remembered by his family and loved ones for his gentle heart and his love for animals. |
