Don was born October 15, 1931 at Bonny Blue, Virginia, to Loren Douglas Livingston and Reba Mae Elizabeth Wampler Livingston. He attended Dryden High School in Dryden, Virginia. He enlisted in the US Army in 1949. He was stationed at Ft. Kobbe in the Panama Canal Zone with the 33rd Infantry in 1949; in 1954 Ft. Hood, Texas; 1955- 1957 he served with the 81st Recon Battalion, Neckersulm, Germany; 1957- 1959, the 7th Army Headquarters, Stuggart, Germany; 1959- 1961 he served with the 16th US Army Corp., Omaha, Nebraska, in 1961 he served a tour of duty with the 7th Infantry Division Support Command in Korea. In 1965 he served with the US Federal Republic of Germany; Tank Development Program of the 7th Army in Warren, Michigan. He was honorably discharged as Master Sergeant in 1969 and moved to Monticello, Indiana. He served with the US Postal Service as Superintendent of Postal Operations until his retirement in August 1987. After retiring, he was a driver for several automobile dealers in Monticello. He served on the Area Plan Commission in Monticello from 1990-1993, was a former member of the Twin Lakes High School Band Boosters and a volunteer for the Theatre Department. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 81. He loved to read and discuss current events and world affairs. He loved nature and wildlife. He married Gayle A. White of Indianapolis, Indiana, November 8, 1954 in Belton, Texas.He was preceded in death by; his parents and one brother, Glen Douglas Livingston. His wife, Gayle A. Livingston of Monticello, survives him. His three daughters Deborah A. and Allen Bruce of Indianapolis; Donna G. and Roger Deno of Cadillac, Michigan and Diann G. and Rodney Weaver of Reynolds, Indiana; one son, Douglas G. and Kimberly Livingston, Indianapolis, Indiana; six grandchildren Jennifer Vance, Kristine Bruce, Amanda Bruce, Brooke Weaver, Brandi Weaver and MacAlister Patrick Douglas Livingston |
