Jacqueline "Jackie" Frances Kentworthy Goodlet or as I call her "Nanny" was born on February 5, 1937 at Long Hospital to Hershel D. and Helen E. Kentworthy. Nanny had one sister Sheila Kay Lowe Collins. She married her grade school sweetheart Raymond Cook in April of 1953 and had three children with him, Toni, Billy and Kathy. They divorced the spring of 1957. Later that same year by a wonderful twist of fate, she met Ronald E. Goodlet, my "Papaw" and came to marry him in October 1958. Nanny and Papaw had one child my mother Veronica "Boogie" Goodlet. Later as Nanny says, she inherited and raised me, Jamie Lynn Dunn Floyd. Nanny and Papaw were married 42 years before Papaw passed away on November 14, 2000. Nanny was a homemaker for most of her life. She raised many children. Although as she used tell it, she had quite an interesting life in her younger years. She loved to "party" and have fun as says it. However, I will always remember Nanny carrying a Diet Coke can everywhere she went and sleeping with a fan even in the winter. She loved to play the lottery and loved flowers. Her favorite colors were pink and orange. Nanny had 12 grand kids and 11 great grand kids. |
