John Harry Curtis was born to Edna Anne & John Harrison Curtis on October 27, 1902. He was the oldest of eight children. After completing the 8th grade, he was forced to quit school and help support his siblings. At age 19 1/2 he enlisted in the army and attained the rank of Sergeant in the seventh Calvary. He served until 1930. He was an excellent rifle marksman and horseman. He joined the Civil Defense and attained Sergeant. He helped conduct air raid drills, fight explosions, floods and aided in accident rescues. He was a crewmember of the cd rescue truck. He was a building superintendent for college University Corporation. He was a master electrician and carpenter. He spent many hours building dollhouses, cradles, etc., for his grandchildren when he retired. |
