Hamilton Memorial Park Cemetery
Section E, Lot 2, Grave 2

Barbara was born on March 6, 1920 in Beekmantown Corners, New York to Francis Browne and Blanche Shields Munkittrick. She spent her childhood and teen tears in Plattsburgh, New York and at an early age learned to appreciate the scenic beauty of that area situated on beautiful Lake Champlain and surrounded by the Adironack Mountains of New York State and Green Mountains of Vermont. She graduated from Plattsburgh High School and after two years in a secretarial position in Albany, New York, she entered The Salvation Army College for Officer Training in New York City. There she met Kenneth Wheatley who would become her life's partner. With him, she was ordained and followed her calling to Offership in The Salvation Army. They were married in 1942 in Buffalo, New York and were blessed with two daughters, Kendra Jean Wheatley Bethune and Barbara Helen Wheatley Werkley.
