| James "JR" Edwards was born May 15, 1916. James first married in 1936. Out of this marriage were four children, Neva Mae, Wallace Russell, Harry Wesley and Patricia Ann. He entered the Army, March 1, 1944 and was discharged December 9, 1945. He served in India, China and Burma. He was in the Murel Mauraders and served under General George Patton. He was a rifleman and received the Combat Infantry Badge. His decorations and citations were, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon W/3 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Award and World War II Victory Medal. James was divorced in 1946, later that year he married Lila Dalton and lived with her only four months. She died in 1950. On September 17, 1952, he married Elsie Martin and lived with her until his death. After coming home from Service, James started his own business, JR Edwards Hardwood Floors in Indianapolis. After he retired from the floor business, he was a Maintenance Superintendent at several apartment complexes in Indianapolis and Florida. He officially retired in 1979. |
