Barbara May Patrick

Birth Date: 9/24/1927
Death Date: 12/28/2000
Memorial Park Cemetery
Section 10, Lot 465, Grave 6

Barbara was born the oldest of four children: Dale Davisson, Mildred Young and Thomas Davisson. She also shared a lifetime of friendship with an Aunt Velma, who was almost the same age. She grew up loving Jesus and was active in church. During her adolescent years her pastime included roller-skating, which she loved and going to the movies. She married at an early age. Four children resulted from this marriage: Kathie, John, Melanie and Thomas. After her children had grown, she went into several different fields of endeavor including owning a dress shop and contracting. She lived alone for many years, and seemed to be able to cope with it. In a note she had written to herself, she observed that, "Why must we make such a thing of loneliness, when it is the final condition of us all?" As she grew older, unlike most people, she became more beautiful. Both women and men would stop to tell her how pretty she was. Her weekly visit to the hairdresser was a kind of ritual, but only seemed to confirm her unique beauty. Still later in life, she remarried, and much of the loneliness left her as she learned to play games and better yet was to travel. Now she was able to see many places that she had only read or heard people talk of. In the end though, the scars and stress of earlier years finally caught up to her. Early in the morning of December 28,2000 Barbara Patrick passed away quietly in her sleep.
