To quote Charlie when talking about a close friend who had passed away: 'You know, you can't measure how tall the oak REALLY is, until after it's fallen.' Wise words from a wise man. Charlie Munger was as mighty of an oak as they come and his accomplishments were just as hard to measure as he was to slow down. Always on the go.
At the early age of 12, Mr. Munger showed the world his musical talents by earning the position of trumpet soloist for John Phillip Sousa. Music flowed in his blood and he followed his dream throughout his schooling and was graduated from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in 1937.
Mr. Munger became a member of the brass faculty at Jordan Conservatory of Music for 11 years, serving as admissions counselor and field representative for the school from 1948 to 1952. A talented professional musician, Mr. Munger rose to the position of first trumpet with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and later became solo trumpet with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. An educator by nature, he taught band to hundreds of young energetic students in Lawrence Schools for many years. |
