Oneida Burrus

Birth Date: 12/17/1914
Death Date: 12/19/2000
Washington Park North Cemetery
Garden of St. Mark, Lot 104 B, Grave 2

My wife Oneida was the nicest person I have ever met. I remember her warmth and loving nature and how so loved to help people. She was a teacher at Public School #41 and I was the school fireman when we met. Oneida served in the Allen Chapel Methodist Church and was very active in the ladies groups. She ushered, sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for years.

Mary's mother, Nattie Hudson was a preachers wife and helped form Oneida's faith.

Frances, the oldest was also a teacher and helped raise her younger sisters Mildred and Oneida.

Mildred was an older sister but her and Oneida were close companions.

Oneida graduated from Butler University in 1974 with a Masters Degree in Science. She loved to teach!

All three of her sister also graduated from Butler University. Here Mildred is congratulating Oneida for her Bachelor of Arts in Education.

Family was important to Oneida. The family would often visit Frances' Cottage on Fox Lake, near Angola, Indiana.

Holiday gathering were always special. Here, Luther and Mildred Hall, Bill Marshall, Frances and Elmer Burch and Oneida and Eolen enjoyed each others company.
