Dad /Papa, was born at Rockey Station, Lee County, Virginia. He started working as a coal miner at an early age. He married Ruth when he was 19 years old and continued to work in the coal mines. He then started training in the funeral business until he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1961 with Ruth and their eight children. He then started a new life as a painter. He enjoyed camping, traveling and entertaining family and friends. He loved his children and grandchildren. He was a big supporter of their school and social activities, especially sports, attending as many events as possible. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and later became very active in his church. |
