James Wilson Hardwick was born on November 1, 1930 to John Wesley and Mary Crawford Hardwick. He joined the US Air Force in June 1951, where he was stationed in Florida as a cook during the Korean Conflict. He returned home in May 1953 and married his childhood sweetheart Barbra Jophlin on July 4, 1953. To this marriage he had three daughters and two sons. Yavonna Jo - October 29,1955, Jimmy - November 1956 and passed away same month., Letha Jean - April 28, 1959 - March 10, 2000, Bonita Kaye- August 16, 1961, James Wilson Jr. - April 1963 (stillborn). Jim had four brothers, George (deceased), Robert, Carl (deceased) and David. His father is 94 years old. He worked for the city golf courses for thirty-three years as an equipment operator. He retired in 1988. He enjoyed talking about sports, especially golf, baseball, racing, basketball, football and just about anything you could get him started on (politics, golf courses). He enjoyed food that people brought to him to eat (he never complained about it.) He liked to play video games. Jim was loved by his family and is greatly missed. |
