The Life and Legacy of Ronall Gladwyn MorelandThe youngest of five children, Ronall was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 17, 1950. He was the son of the late George and Lorene Moreland. His sister George Millicent Ockletree Andrews preceded him in death. Ronall attended the Capital Avenue Seventh-Day Adventist Church School, graduated from Short ridge High School and attended Indiana University before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1971. He served two years of Active Duty and four years as a Navy Reserve. Ronall served during the Vietnam War era and was an OS3 Traffic Controller on the USS Duluth. Ronall later attended and earned an Associate of Arts degree from San Diego College, at California. Ronall resided in San Diego, California for the past 28 years and was an employee of the Department of Defense Contract Agency, Space War Systems Center. He had been promoted to various positions during his 26 years of employment. Ronall was highly regarded in his position of Electronics Technician. In this capacity, he built portions of and tested military marine equipment, often of 'top secret' classification. His position would send him aboard ships to Hawaii, and countries outside of the US. He was a member of New Creation Non-Denominational Church of San Diego. As a child, Ronall was soft-spoken, gentle, humorous, outgoing, energetic and a bit mischievous. His mother was especially dear to him. Family members warmly recall Ronall often kissing and hugging his mother as a boy and teen before her passing. He was an eager learner and great conversationalist who was ready to apply what he learned. With care, patience and an exact eye, Ronall was a 'handy man' with an acumen for transforming the ordinary into something extraordinary. Ronall restored old cars and transformed houses, which he bought and sold. He also built birdhouses and an impressive state-of-the-art tree house with a landing for his sons. He could repair just about anything. He also enjoyed photography and had a passion for sailing and water skiing. He was a member of the Toast Masters Speakers Club. Ronall never met a stranger. His warm smile and generosity toward others will long be remembered by his many friends and family. His many nieces and nephews treasured Ronall for his interest and generosity to them. His living testimony was one of service to others. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, patience and a passion for helping others. Before he passed, Ronall did much 'soul searching,' daily committing himself to Christ. On the afternoon of Saturday, May 29, Ronall fell asleep in the Lord.
