| Leon was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. he was 1 of 6 children born to the Clayton family. He grew up on the east part of Downtown Indianapolis. He met Mabel and the married and had 2 children, Lon and Bob. In 1945 they divorced, but continued to be friends. In 1946 Leon met elaine Phillips. They were married on June 25, 1947 and were still maried upon her death. Leon and Elaine raised four children ue, Mike, Barb and Pat and lived on the Northside of Indianapolis. all four children graduated from North Central high School. Leon began work as a painter at Eli Lilly in 1940 and retired at age 65 in 1984. Leon loved his work as a painter and dedicated 44 years of service to Eli Lilly. Leon's hobbies included playing poker, collecting hats and gardening. He had a terrific green thumb. |
