Christine Mija Vandenbroeck

Birth Date: 2/8/1956
Death Date: 10/9/2000
Memorial Park Cemetery
Section 8, Lot 240, Grave 7

Born Kang Mi Ja in Taejon, South Korea, she was the fourth of seven children. Her father was a school teacher and her mother a homemaker.

She met David Vandenbroeck who was serving in the U.S. Army in April 1984. The two of them quickly fell in love and were married on 7/31/1984 in Seoul, South Korea. In September of that year, Mi Ja immigrated to the USA when David's tour of duty was complete.

On 5/7/1991 Mija proudly became a U.S. citizen and took the name Christine as her new first name but keeping Mija as a middle name to hold onto her Korean heritage.

Christine was always energetic and enjoyed good times with family. She enjoyed playing games, including bingo, at which she was lucky. She also enjoyed gardening and having flowers and plants outside and inside the house. Another one of her hobbies was collecting angel figurines and dolls. Not one to sit around and do nothing, Christine enjoyed working and at one time she and David owned a Subway Restaurant which she managed.

Christine loved her husband David dearly and remains loved by him. She was always supportive of all of his efforts and was his inspiration for all he tried to do. David often wondered what he did to deserve such a wonderful wife. Christine also loved David's family and was loved and embraced by them. This she treasured. She always call her mother in law and father in law, mom and dad.
