Matthew Luke Meadows

Birth Date: 4/10/1999
Death Date: 3/9/2000
Floral Park Cemetery
Section R6, Row 30, Grave 7

Matthew was an angel from the first day he came into the world. He was a beautiful baby boy with the wildest hair and a smile you could never forget. Jesus called Matthew home for a very special reason. Matthew's personality was so sweet; and after everything he went through, he still smiled all the time. We were blessed with him for 11 months, and I have enough memories to last me a lifetime. Matthew was born with Tetrology of Fallot, which is a heart disease that has 4 defects in the heart and requires open heart surgery. Matthew also had a G/J tube because he had feeding problems and couldn't take a bottle. Matthew went in for his open heart surgery on 2/4/2000 and never really recovered. Matthew needed a permanent pace maker and the doctors waited to long to put one in. Matthew died 3/9/2000. Matthew is sadly missed by his family. My mother, Sharon Smith helped me take care of Matthew the whole time he was in the hospital. She called Mattie, and her little Pookieman. Matthew's Aunt Brenda helped all she could and even was present during his birth. We will always remember Matthew as a wild haired smiley faced angel.

Matthew smiling up at mommy. He always smiles and kicks his little legs when he's excited.

Matthew with brother, Nicholas, on the couch watching daddy take their picture. Matthew always put his fingers in his mouth.

Matthew is getting his first bath at Riley Hospital. He seems like he doesn't mind the bath, in fact he liked it a lot.

Matthew is on ECMO circuit, total life support. He is already an angel now, I believe. Matthew went through so much. My precious baby boy.

This is mom and dad holding Matthew for the first time since he was born 4 weeks ago. A very special moment for us.

Matthew is getting his therapy. He is looking at mommy, thinking what's going on here mom. There is that finger and thumb in his mouth.

Aunt Brenda is holding Matthew for the first time; Uncle Steve will get his turn too. Matthew is very sick, but he gets better.

Baby Matthew sleeping. He always holds on to his pacifier which is taped to a burping cloth. He looks so peaceful.

Here is a very excited little Matthew on grandma Sharon's lap. He smiled all the time. We hardly ever heard a laugh out loud, but we knew how happy he was.

Matthew on 2/4/2000 preparing for his open heart surgery, and giving daddy the eye. Matthew knew his daddy's voice very well. Every time Nick spoke, Matthew would look around to see where his daddy was at.
