Emma was born in Nashville, Tennessee. She was the youngest of seven siblings and became fondly known as "Honey". She moved to Indianapolis, In in 1939 and attended Crispus Attucks High School. On October 21, 1942 she married James E. Johnson. They shared 57 years together. Emma & James were baptized together at the New Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. Emma was a faithful member of the Northwest United Methodist Church for 41 yrs. She served in several positions, as member of the usher board, secretary of United Methodist Women, member of the Nomination Committee, choir, Administratin Board and assisted in Communion. She was dedicated to her family and enjoyed bowling, cooking and softball. Emma was employed at I.U. Medical Center as a dietitian for 2 yrs. She changed career and became an employee at Stewart Warner. For the next 20 yrs. she served as Assembler, Core Stacker, Brazer and Group Leader before taking an early retirement. Honey was devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. After God, her family was always first in her life. Her "Legacy" she left was she never ever complained, but dealt with what life gave. Our dear Honey is deeply missed and her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
